Lizard Legacy will strive to find us food and stay alive
Our whole minds are a menagerie

Furry Li'l Mammal does what Furry Li'l Mammal loves
whole minds are a menagerie

Monkey Mind will figure out what ever we might think about
Our whole minds are a menagerie

Higher Porpoise it will lead to where we feel the Earths great need
Our whole minds are a menagerie

  • This song was written to accompany Connie's program, "A Walk on the Wild Side: Your Brain's Creation Story", which she delivers in churches and other settings, and adapts for groups ranging from kindergartners to adults.

  • Click here to listen to a different version of the song for very YOUNG CHILDREN. In her kids programs, Connie introduces each verse individually, along with the brain part it pertains too. She uses puppets and hand and body movements for each verse of the song.

Note: Both versions of the song are based on the discoveries of evolutionary brain science, notably our evolved Quadrune Brain. The best way to learn about this topic is to read chapters 9 through 11 of Michael Dowd's book, Thank God for Evolution, which has been endorsed by six Nobel Laureates. The charts below are those that Connie uses in her programs.

Our human brain contains the foundations of vertebrate brain evolution: our reptilian brain (our Lizard Legacy) and our paleo-mammal brain (our Furry L'il Mammal). Evolved later is our human rational brain, the neocortex (our Monkey Mind), and highly developed in the human are the prefrontal cortex or frontal lobes (our Higher Porpoise; higher purpose).

  • A playful way to learn and celebrate our evolved Quadrune Brain is to read/perform the "Menagerie of the the Mind PARABLE".
